Hi everyone,

I'm after a Brazilian rain tree if anyone has one they wish to part with for a fair sum.

Any help would be great!

Cheers

Which one, Nik? There are several species known as Brazillian Rain Trees.

I have about 5 Samanea saman, also known as Albizia saman, which actually belong to my son. He would miss the big one, but I have a couple of small seedlings he wouldn't miss. The leaves are quite big for a compound, but I am told they will reduce. Individual leaflets are 2cm long.

EDIT: I could possibly get some viable seed, as this is where we got ours from. They grow up here and there are several near our place.

Hi Glenda,

I am after any type really. The bigger the better if possible.
How old/ large/small are the seedlings?

Cheers,

Seedlings are about pencil thick and about 20cm high. The big one he has is about 3cm thick trunk and about 80cm high. But I am sure he would miss that one! I could spare one or two of the smaller ones without him missing them too much. I will take photos tomorrow.

Being tropical trees, I am not sure how they will tolerate your winters. They like LOTS of water too, especially in the heat.

Edit: Funny thing is the small seedlings sprouted about the same time as the larger one. It was the only one out of the five that has grown rampantly, but the others are coming along nicely.

Hi Glenda,

Look forward to the pictures.
I actually grow tropical pitcher plants down here in my hot house so they may have a "friend"

Cheers

These are the two I had in mind for you, Nik. You will notice the right hand one has a tiny seedling in the pot, so it is a twofa.

The two small ones compared to the big one. All seeds were planted at the same time, but the large one sprouted straight away, while the little ones took for ever to sprout. They have been healthy, but much slower growing, part of that will be the size of the pots they are in too.

I don't know what they are worth - make an offer if you are interested.
