Please explain!!! Is it that you just dont like portulacaria afra or do you think it is unbalanced and too neat.

I have to agree with Peter I thought I would like this but looking at the big picture it left me just seeing how it was made and a little tree on top of a carved trunk. Very nice for a jade but I feel it left me wanting some years on it?

No I dont like the species but i also don't like the composition. It looks like it is pidgeon chested, there is no nabari, the tree looks like it has its back to the viewer (i hope Ant has taken the correct front shot?) the position in the pot looks wrong to me. There is to much negative space to the right of the tree. I think it would be more dynamic if it was tilted over further to the right and the folaige reduced more. This is just my opinion and i do hope it doesnt offend anyone as i really do appreciate Antonio's efforts to share these trees with us, and his fellow club members for allowing him to do so.

Well, I don't normally like Jade as a bonsai but I think this is nicely done. I do find the trunk odd... it looks splotchy and I find it detracts from the tree. I can understand some of the comments but this is remarkably like a dwarf honeysuckle I had [before I killed it inadvertantly] that had a high foliage pad and never shot lower on the trunk. But this jade is graceful and has a nice feel.

Jade as bonsai doesn't float my boat at all. Probably because it comes under the heading of 'Fringe Trees' in my mind much like schefflera and most ficus.

Hmmm... I like it, I can see the a few flaws but nothing a bit of time and tweaking couldn't fix...It may not be a "Traditional Bonsai" but it is a nice bonsai, I would be proud to own it.

I am glad you like it Elias....the species just doesnt appeal to many thats all, its not really just this tree.
Do you like the actual image of the tree or do you prefer the vertual image? I am curious thats all.

No prob mate, i am curious of peoples opinions as to what they prefer, the fuller look or the minimalist look. I personally think that less or more! Same with Junipers you know, i dont particularly like the full helmet looking american junipers either.
