Not sure where to post this.. administrators welcome to move it to the right place..

I've heard that you could grow crabapples bonsai in Brisbane, but I can't find them at nurseries. Does anyone know where you can get crabapple trees or seedlings?

Thanks ~

Greetings,
I have not looked for crabapples because it is too hot and humid in BrisVagas. You may get them as grafted stock in Toowoomba.
Happy Bonsai,
Bruce

You can get some crabapple from Red Dragon on the Gold Coast or if you are on the north side of the river Bonsai Northside has some.

Yuffie, my crabapples grow fine here in brisbane. I got quite a lot of flowers this year. One of my smaller trees got over 40 fruits last year too. You could buy them from Red Dragon as said but could buy heaps of varieties from mt Tamborine nurseries. They range from $45 (~4cm base and 1.7m tall) to $80 (~6cm base).
Cheers,
DK

Hey DK, we shoudl take a trip up Tambo sometime so you can show me these nurseries with them :D
My large one I recently got from Matt has flowered, and one of my tiny ones also flowered.
I haven't had any fruit, so I can't comment on that.
I love crabapples and want more :D
I've got a pot a good friend gave me for christmas that I want to put a crab in :)

Sure Nathan. Last time I asked and you couldn't go with me - I went by myself and got another one. They also have flowering plums and flowering cherries too. The only problem with them is they are grafted and were designed to by tall garden trees. You may have to airlay them in order to make bonsai. I'll let you know if I will go there again.
Cheers
DK
