Hi all,
I have Air Layered some of my Chinese Elms. I have attached a PDF file showing details of the method I used. I hope you will enjoy.

Good post Macray and excellent detail in your .pdf file. I use the same sort of method, except that I also wrap the ball in black plastic over the clear. No scientific evidence, but I feel that as roots normally grow in the dark, I can replicate it with the black plastic.

I have used Black Plastic, but last time it was suggested to use Aluminium foil.
the theory being that it will reflect more light and thus stay cooler and thus develop better roots
Suppose the only way will be to do several of each type and then compare

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the info. Your right, I have some more layering to do so I will try the three methods and see what the results are.
