Bringing plants Indoors for Periods

Hi all!

Bringing plants indoors is something I find myself doing often. Obviously some species do fine for awhile inside, figs etc. But what if we want to bring something, that likes a decent amount of light inside?
Is it feasible to keep a plant/bonsai, inside for a significant amount of time and sustain it with the elements it needs?
A while ago a purchased some 4ft UV grow lights for aquariums. I was thinking of creating a viewing display area inside sustained by these grow lights.

What I would like to know is, does anyone keep bonsai inside for a lengthy period, if so under what conditions?

Does anyone have any artificial light setups indoors? :)

Thanks for your time.

gday mate :D

the best person that could answer this one is Jerry Meislik, he has had to do this with his figs, i think anyways.

there is some info on the net if you do a little searching :D

I would be cautious with some trees bringing them in for lengthy periods, some will absolutly despise being moved and also condition changes.

there are several Companies around that lease Bonsai to decorate office space
A few years ago we had some at work for a while, and I spoke to the bloke about them

Mainly Pines, Junis, Maple, Elm etc

He had them on a 4 week cycle to keep them healthy as they time inside they were not watered.
3 days ( or 4 days ) in side on display, then the remainder time ooutside recovering. He had done this for many years and the trees coped well.

Walter Pall also has the ongoing display at the BMW museum in Munich, and I assume they are on dispaly indoors there for a while before swapping out

I display inside for 3-4 days at most--then out the back they go--I also display trees that need work cos sitting and looking at the tree from my tv chair gives me time to decide what is needed
