Hey peoples,

I have what I believe to be a tall Leptospermum petersonii growing in my backyard. It has a slightly gold/pale green spring growth and lemon scented foliage.

A few branches of the tree would make some terrific bunjin style trees. What would be my best method of removing and successfully growing said branches for this particular species? I am currently thinking along the lines of a ring bark air-layer but would be open to any other advice

I have tried 1 airlayer but it failed
It is supposed to work OK tho

I have tried 3 air layers and all failed. The last i scraped REALLY deep, and a distance of over 100mm in length, and it still healed over. They are very good at that. Let us know how it goes.

Hmmm not very encouraging but thanks for your honesty!

Oh well, I gave it a shot today regardless as I suspect it wouldn't have struck from a cutting. I will post photo's if it takes root

what I would try considering it heals at such great lengths, would be to try a torniquet on the branch, or even a torniquet/ring bark combo
