For any particular reason? If you mean instead of watering well I would not recommend spraying at all.

hi stevemg,
you should really only spray the foliage if a tree is kept inside for a day or two, or here an there just to wash off dust etc, as it can make a tree more susceptible to various diseases, and in the warmer months an hottest part of the day can magnify the suns rays resulting in the possiblity of foliage burn

I generally wet the foliage when watering but thats the only time. I water very early in the morning. Never wet the foliage on pines as it makes the needles grow too long.

Hi,
Very interesting to hear to not water pine foliage. I have a couple of Radiatas and have always given them a wash when watering, does it have any other affect on them if you do.

Hey All,
I believe spraying foliage on Junipers can assist in minimising Red Spider Mite invasions. Not sure if it shoul dbe done as a routine or only if the critters present arms!
Cheers

I would say you are right on there Andrew, spraying the foliage on azalea definitely reduces the risk of red spider mite.
With regards to the pines I think that long needles is the only draw back but its a pretty big one.
