hello people,
one of my first little trees is a pyracantha that has decided to treat me with a beautiful little bunch of flowers
im wondering if i should be expecting berrys?

Sometimes in the warmer climates you don't get good flowering or fruiting of the cooler climate trees. Or flower but no fruit.

Depends on the vaguaries of micro climate and species and variety of tree.

Grant, when you mention 'warmer climates', what areas are you referring to?

I live in Maryborough on the Fraser Coast and my Pyracantha flowers and fruits every year (orange berries). It isn't in a Bonsai pot yet - I've been growing it on in a styrene box for a couple of years to get some decent development in the trunk. I don't leave the fruit on though, I remove them before they ripen. I don't like the idea of birds spreading the stuff all round the countryside - those thorns are vicious!!!

I bought a small pyracantha with a small bunch of dark orange berries on it a little over 12 months ago. The growth since has been huge, but no flowers and of course no more berries since. I didn't know about the 'warmer climates'. Any one else up this way get any?

the rain we are having here is GREAT!

I cant comment to much on flower/fruiting, I have never really been a big fan of them until late, it was actually cotoneaster that sparked my interest, pyra are similar to them and John sent me some seed up. Im very keen to try a couple of good cotoneaster too, a good bloke and mate will be sending some up sometime so very keen

hey jamie.. i once had a cotoneaster. . now i just have a cutting to took from it.
though still little.. its a healthy cutting -8 months old- i was unaware they fruited.. (cool)

the tree in the background iv been pruning non stop for over 15 months! anyone guess what it is! (yes im foolish)

looks like a Serissa to me...but could be wrong it seems to happen frequently.
