Hello stranger, The pot looks good but the tree seems like it needs a bit of work on the foliage.

The leaves are too big. Rest looks good. Defoliate to reduce leaf size and increase ramification would be my advice for what that is worth, unless someone with more exerience tells you otherwise :s

I agree Glenda that the leaves need reduction. However it looks similar to a hills fig I have that I am going to give up on. The leaves don't reduce well. Hope it's not the case with your fig amazonida

ficus Hilli leaves should reduce no problem. Leong has them in his book with a good sized leaf.

this tree needs a lot more time before defoliation. let it grow, cut back hard to 2 leaves per shoot then let it grow again. then wire it all out. you will end up with more branching that will be a lot more suitable for ramification. while letting it grow there isnt much point in defoliating. i have learnt that after a fair long time defoliating and waiting longer for shoots to harden off, reduced leaves creates slow growth.

Leaf reduction isn't a problem Jamie. Although not as easy as P.J. the leaf will reduce with patient and constant work. The problem with these tings is trunk girth. They are painfully slow to put any girth into the wood, although branches dont seem to have the same trouble, just the trunks. Make nice Bonsai all the same.

I didnt say leaf reduction was a problem? I said i think that gettting the tree to the right stage before leaf reduction would be a better idea

Wasn't disagreeing with you Jamie, in fact I agree with you, just pointing out the biggest flaw with these ficus. That being the slowness to put on wood.

so...should i wait a bit more to defoliate? i mean...maybe jamie is right..these are new foliage..i reclently pruned it. the foliage is that big because it's new.
so, how long should i wait in your opinion to defoliate. It is now with 2 weeks.
another question is to know, if i have to turn the plant..twist more to any angle..., should i?
