Hi Everyone,

Just an open query, who here has Japanese pots laying around that they arent using, i am interested to find out if there is a lot of high quality pots tucked away from prying eyes. I have a few only small and am interested in getting more but they are geting harder and harder to find. So please post up here what you have, what you arent using and photos if you have some. Here's a Japanese oval that i have been meaning to ID for some time, anyone know?

i have a small collection of high quality japanese shohin pots, all chopped, 5 in total, will get round to taking pics soon. im also interested in pots people have tucked away.

I have quite a few in a range of sizes from accent pots to large decidious pots. Some have trees in them, others do not and mearly occupy a spot on my shelf.

They are not all that hard to get a hold of, you just have to be prepared to pay for them

Oh and Jarrod, your pot is by Yamafusa. Made by Mr.Koie Takehiko. See HERE. Yamafusa pots were imported in moderately large numbers into at least victoria around 15 years ago and were pretty cheap at the time (at least cheap compared to what it costs to get one delivered to your door from japan now).

They are really nice pots and the greens he produces are truely amazing.

Thanks for the pot ID mate. I just hadn't gotten around to checking that site out. Loving the pots you have, they are very nice. I think i recall talking to you about buying pots online, is this something you do? and what is the general fereight cost? I am looking around for a couple of pots and any help would be appreciated.

Great thread mate, recently I have been thinking the same thing. Would also be interested in a source to purchase old pots from Japan online also.

I have severalJapanese pots That I'm not using currently. Most of my nicer japanese pots aren't used because I don't have good enough trees for them yet
I plan to bring more over when (read: if ) my financial situation improves to where it used to be

I have one pot and an Ikebana tray that was given to me by a friend whose grandfather was a sea captain that shipped goods to and from Japan before 1903.
I have often wondered if they belong to that era as I know he brought maples over at that time. 90mm at the top 175mm at the top height 65mm Ikebana tray Length 400mm width 240mm height 60mm
