hey guys took my boug outside the otherday for the first time since april. it survived winter in my hothouse and went dormant losing its leaves which they can do. Will keep it out and watch the weather for any cold snaps still likely. It was collected in rockhampton Qld 2 years ago with 2 little roots and a large branch which i removed. The current trunk line was started from a bud. Im happy with its progress but i still need to heavily reduce the deadwood. It has nice depth however the photos dont show it. height of tree is around 700mm. I hoping to let it flower this year for the first time.
Also i took a few quick shots of some other trees leafing etc. My red pine which i was gonna lose in rocky is budding up ok, ill just feed it heavily for this year than work on candles etc. it didnt fare no where near as good as the black pines in central Qld. 200 bi coloured satsuki azealeas grown from cuttings going in the ground in the next week for a few years

Nice job Noah78, it coming along nicely .Mine is one of the QLD's , must of had a troubled childhood cos it hasn't grown up yet .It shoots then withers ? .No nothing about bougs except some have big thorns .Cheers Alpine

last ones of some pine candles extending. I really got to reduce the drawf candles back to two . They are so vigerous

Hey Noah, that Red Pine is looking a lot better, It would look great in a less massive pot once it has grown strongly for a season. In my old collection I had a Literati JBP of a similar size that was in a quite old hexagonal Tokoname pot. It worked very well. A shallow drum would look good too.

It is looking alot better will let the candles enlongate and just get the tree vigourous again. I agree a change of pot next repot. Something to look forward too
Hers a pic i forgot this trident is old and the bark quite flaky however it was to tall and the previous owner let the branches get to thick up top etc. I have reduced the tree by half and also in the process of grafting all new braching and apex to it. See how it looks next winter. Not bonsai but here is one of the large apple trees scattered around here. I plan to layer off it. Loaded with blossom and the last of my tulips

Those Satsuki will have good movement in years to come with the work you have put in now. Is your red pine on its own roots or is it grafted ?
