Hi people these are some pots and trays i have been playing with over the last 6 months ,I call them Gumnut/Gumleaf pots and trays based on seed pods and gum leaves found in the area .These were made using the same render as the Kimberley Landscape i recently completed I used wire netting with shade cloth laminated in between then simply freehand rendered to cage , the square pots were sand-cast using a bonsai pot to form the shape in wet brickies sand then adding a bit of shade cloth for reo' and free forming the render .

I did take a series of pics but the Old computer gave up the ghost and took about 8500pics with it . Back up who said anything about backing up , i'm always moving forward .Yeh RIGHT. Jase posted an upload on false rocks in a reply to the Kimberley Landscape and it shows a basic simple method "how to" or grab yourself a DVD. I used basically the same principal to free form these containers .Go on challenge yourself its good fun and unique to your imagination .If using bondcrete and renders wear glove or your hands will have more cracks than a shattered windscreen .Cheers Alpineart

they look awsome, I really love the big moon pot what a great challenge, my hubby works for a concrete mob, will have to show him your pics and see if he can make me some!!!

Hi Noramay , these will be coloured with various render colours then re-sealed , when i find the time . They were made with Blonde cement hence the colour is a sandstone rather than grey .A colour could be added to the render before mixing however i prefer to mix numerous colours after they have cured for a more natural look .Cheers Alpineart

Good fun isn't it! It's great to be able to form a vessel to suit your plant, rather than forcing it into possibly un-suitable pots we have available.

If your kimberley planting is anything to go by these will look fantastic once you finish them completely.

I really like the large rectangle at the front, very rustic, the texture will work sooo well with your palette. One query... they as yet have no holes, do you intend to drill them out and will you do this before or after the final rendering?

Hi Mitchell , certainly breaks the monotony of repotting and trimming .The larger pot is for a huge pine semi cascade/cascade .Need something special , build it , make it , grow it .

Hi MattA , holes will be drilled prior to colouring and sealing .Any damage can be repaired beforehand

Hi Daiviet , shade cloth is used to cover green houses ,pergola's etc .Its available from garden supplies and hardwares .Flywire mess could also be used .
Hi Dave , i'm inspired by all topics , then i need to motivate myself .Satisfaction comes when i complete the task .All good for sure .
