Some new pots to show off

Hello everyone. I picked up a parcel from the post office the other day :D Most of you have probably noticed an amiable American by the name of P.J.Katich pop up here now and then, well after seeing some of his pots on an old thread I have been emailing him regularly and now have just recieved my first delivery of his fine pots. He is actually in the process of photographing all his inventory of pots so that he can then set up a website where they will be available for purchase. I found Paul very easy to deal with. I gave him my requirements and he then sent me pic's of pots that fitted these criteria and later even let me choose some glazes to put on some pots he was firing at the time. The pots are excellent. They are made to a very high standard, I cannot fault them and I am very happy with them. I also found that the photo's are very true to colour and that the pots actually do look as great as the pictures do. Especially the gloss glazes, i wondered if they would actually be as nice as the great photography made them look and they are. They were also very carefully packed and arrived in perfect condition despite the gaping rip in the side of the box!
So while I agree that we must support our local potters ( I'm looking forward to your parcel arriving soon too Penny) we are all citizens of the world as well as Ozzies and i for one am looking forward to Paul getting his website up and running, so I can see more of his work.

Here's some pics of my new pots ... :D

can you tell us the sizes of them?

Ken

Hi Ken, yes they are small. From 10.5 - 16 cm's across and from 5.1 - 9.2cm deep. He had alot of very nice pots but many of them were too shallow for me. I'm putting azalea's in them and only wanted lighter colours and a decent depth. He does have some larger ones but mostly smaller sizes too. He'll custom make stuff though :D They have very nice finishes.

Now I just need to try and grow some decent shohin and mame to put in them! :)

Hey Neil,

These pots are all beautifully made & finished, I especially like the third one with the uneven glaze line.

There are quite a few potters around the world doing great work & agree we are all citizens of the world & as such should support all of them. Each potter has something slightly different to offer as does each tree, giving us lots of opportunity to find the best match to showcase each other.

I look forward to seeing some of your trees in them.

Matt

Great buy, Neal.
Paul's pots show great craftmanship and attention to detail. He is a seriously good potter and artist.

Very nice mate. I "Luv" the 2nd one due to it's earthiness and the yellow one down near the bottom. These are top notch pots. Enjoy!!

They are beautiful pots Neal. I have become taken with pots and could easily become a serious collector. No money unfortunately  To many addictions. No 3 and 4 i love.

Thanks everyone :D Bodhi you are so right. the pots can become as addictive as the tree's I think, especially these hand made ones because every one is unique, there isn't another quite the same. They are works of art in their own right and its very tempting to want to get them all but funds and space quickly run out.

A few of you mentioned the yellow one. I have been fascinated with yellow pots lately but they are not all that easy to come by. Paul had a few, which were too shallow for me, I got the deepest. They may still be available, I'll put the pics up here...

They are made from a porcelain clay.

Thanks Neil,

I appreciate all your kind words.

It was a pleasure working with you and I am looking forward to seeing a few photos of your trees potted in them.

As it so happens, I will be firing the kiln this Friday and there are a few more of those yellow pots in this load. I will post a few photos of them when they are ready.

Have a great day.

Cheers.
Paul
