Hey guys here are some 140 bi coloured satsuki azealeas from cuttings taken about 15 months ago off my mates bonsais. I think maybe a couple maybe the 3 tone one as he had one as a bonsai? some have thrown the odd flower, i put 30 in the garden as garden plants. As soon as the tube stock ones i wired sometime ago finish flowering they all go into grow beds for some size. maybe in a few years ill have something

I have about 200 Osakasuki and summer sun cuttings in their 2nd year of growth now, we'll have to get some trading going!

I repotted them all into fine Kanuma, spread the roots out and I'm giving them the rest of this year to get some more growth on the tops and roots before they go into the ground.

Nice low curves going on there too.

I know I wasn't asked but the best propergation advice I can give is to get some fine Kanuma. Failing that, get some sphagnum (chop it up really fine) and a little green house tray from bunnys, break off the new growth when it hardens off (another couple of weeks on mine here in canberra), don't clean up the base and away you go, no rooting hormone used. Put it under your benches/in shade or it will heat up really quick!!!

P.S. I used cut soft drink bottles to 'save money' but it was the biggest pain in the...I just kept knocking them over etc.

To get the best result from azalea cuttings and this is if you need lots of them you use the wood that is produced right after flowering.
When an azalea finishes flowering it produces multiple growths from the point of the flower bud, once these growths have hardened off just a bit this is the best material to use for propagation you should get close to a 100% strike rate from this wood
