I know it may be getting a bit late into the season, but I was wondering if I can still do a successful airlayering on the following in Melbourne

1. Chinese Elm
2. Acer Palmatum

When the tree is growing vigorously, go for it.
I plan to layer one this weekend.

No worries on doing either now
We have a good 4 months growth after christmas, 2 months to set roots, and 2 months to settle in before winter
