Pyracantha Mini - Which Pot??

Took this little tree - about 15 cm high - out of a low glazed pot and put it in the matt brown Japanese pot because it needed more soil room. Then I got the richly textured Erin Bonsai pot and decided to try the Pyra in that.
What is the general consensus about which pot better suits the tree.

Despite the look of it in the photo - The Erin Bonsai pot IS oval.

The Erin pot is the one it will match the seasons, of green foliage, white flowers and the berries, be they orange or red.
The drip glaze is nice too.

I like the Erin. Its a very nice pot but it doesn't overpower the tree, they look good together! well done

Lovely little tree! The size, shape and colours of the Erin pot suit it better, definitely. However, for my taste the texture is a bit too coarse for this particular mini.
I'd love to see this shohin under the thread "do we need a shohin section on this forum??", in the Feedback and Suggestions section. Unless of course you don't want to see a shohin section here!
Thanks for this post, regardless.

thats a great little tree you got there.
i reckon the second pot give the tree a bit more of an aged feeling, but it may distract from the tree to much. so if u want the tree to be the absolute main focus go for the nuetral brown pot.

Ben

I'd also go with the Erin Pot. The other one looks a bit heavy for the tree.

second pot, for sure, but if the first pot was glassed in blue or green would look ok as well. would like to see the tree planted a little lower in the pot s well,

The reason why the second pot looks better is not just that it is glazed or even the shape, even though it is a better shape than the first. I think the size of the pot is what sets it off! The second pot looks a little smaller and Bonsai tend to look better if slightly under potted than overpotted. Larger pots can become too dominant in the design and destract from the tree.
The smaller pot is really the better choise. Nice tree!
