Just spending a lazy Sunday doing some bonsai touch ups and thought I might chuck up some progression shots.
Sorry about picture quality.

Good on you Fish
It is a good to see you putting shape into your trees early.
I can see that you have cut down some plastic pots to make them shallower. Whilst this does achieve the aim the lip of a plastic pot gives it stability. When you pick it up now it will flex a bit. If you are looking for shallower but sturdy grow on pots try the 'Orchid Pots' available from NuLeaf on Little Spence Street Cairns. They are great grow on pots.

Nice work Fish!
I have an elm like that, that I have been meaning to do something with for a while. Your shots have inspired me to at least trim it's new growth. I so need some more wire though, I'm ashamed to say I am bone dry atm.... even stripped some electrical cable the other day..

Thanks for the heads up mate, I have noticed they flex, nearly dropped the Lavender Star when I first picked it up, so it has stayed put where it is and only been handled for the sun rotations. Will check out NuLeaf this week.
How did your trip go by the way

Mitchell, tut tut tut for running out of wire. Good to see you improvised....
I thought that if I didn't actually start shaping a few now, I would miss the opportunity with the branches being a bit flimsy. Glad you like them. I have another Chinese Elm which I had no idea what to do with, left it for a while to ponder over, the other day i completely defoliated it and started shaping the lower half. So now I have more buds arriving in better places and later I will be able to cut down to two inches and have another to work with, the top half is formed to a clean tree shape atm, I will put up some happy snaps when the greener comes fully out so we can see it better.
Cheers
Fish
PS. I noticed the addition to your handle at the bottom..
