How about a visit to Canberra?

Hi all,
Several of us bonsai growers here in Canberra have to reduce our collection, either because we have too many trees or because they are getting too big to handle for the oldies. We now have the plan of combining a sale of bonsai with the annual show of the Weston Creek Bonsai Group, which takes place on the first weekend in April. This club is the smaller of the two bonsai clubs in Canberra; most of us are members of both clubs.
NOTE: the bonsai on offer are "finished" trees in bonsai pots.
There will also be a sales table with raw material, or semi-styled trees of all sorts.
Pat Kennedy will be there with a choice of beaut pots.
Ledanta Bonsai Nursery is located here, with a big choice of all you may need. (Are you coming to the WCBG show as usual, Leigh?)
You can enjoy the WCBG show itself.
NOTE #2 :You can visit the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection while you are here! (It's free)
You would also be welcome as a guest at the meeting of the Canberra Bonsai Society (the big club) on Saturday morning.
I could check out accommodation possibilities, budget and better-budget.
Anyone interested?
Lisa K.

Hell yeah! Are you able to put some sort of list with pictures and prices together for the material on offer? It sounds good in principle though Lisa. I will look forward to your reply, PM me if you would rather. I would like to come down to Canberra, i lived there for 2 years way back when and miss it dearly.
Regards
Peter

Hi
would love a weekend in Canberra to vist the show and always in the market for something special to purchase. I know it's a big ask, but some photos and prices would be great in advance of the trip.
If you don't want them public a PM would be great.
Regards
Dave

Thanks for your replies, PeterW, Asus and Dave. We only concocted the plan of selling "real" bonsai a few days ago, so haven't yet chosen which trees we'll dispose of. That may take a while, but I'll keep you posted. One club member has already said that she won't allow her trees to be photographed and shown to anyone, but others may let me take some pics, and there are my own of course.
Asus, won't you change your mind and come a bit earlier? Leigh from Ledanta will be at the show, he has confirmed it.
I'll try and add some pics of Pat K's pots, if I can work out how to do it.

My range of options at the top of the message box doesn't show any possibility of uploading an attachment.
Where do I find it?

Thanks for your response Lisa, with respect to your club member that wont allow photographs of her trees, it would be difficult to get anyone outside of Canberra to go to the sale if they dont know what will be for sale and or what price. I am prepared to come from queensland if the quality of the trees demand that and the prices are reasonable, but not sight unseen and price unknown. They can do it through PM if they like, dont giveout address's or anything if its a security issue.
Kind Regards
Peter

The option is at the bottom of the dialog box Lisa. You will see an option there to "upload attachment".
Hope that helps Lisa

Of course, and I fully understand. It is indeed a security issue, as we have had quite a number of major thefts. Just ask Leigh from Ledanta! But I'll get as much info as I can and PM it to you and other interested people. We have a club meeting this afternoon and I hope to get a better idea of who will put up what for sale.

Your very welcome Lisa. Just a thought Lisa, why not suggest to your fellow members to post their sale trees here in the swap and sell area of AusBonsai? They may (or may not) get a better price...who knows....?
Thanks for trying to put it together though Lisa.
Regards
Peter

If you are coming to Canberra then you should come to the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia. Here is a shot of it during a quiet day during Floriade.

Hi everyone,
My apologies for not coming back earlier to this thread. Fact is, I can't get the other members of the Weston Creek Bonsai Group, who have their annual show on April 4, to tell me what they'll be selling. They'll probably make up their minds shortly before the show. As for my own trees, I'll send a PM to interested people. Note that with our climate here in Canberra, there won't be much that is suitable for coastal NSW or Queensland.

Gee, Grant, did you think I'd forget that???

See my post above. Really nice to see you on this forum!!
Attachd a photo of Pup at the National Collection, with his great Melaleuca. Hope you don't mind me posting it, Pup.
