hey guys and girls, picked this tree up from bonsai at the bay down at woollamia the other day! What do you think, any suggestions? Do you think it needs to be shortened and a new apex grown? if so where would you cut it? just seeing what other peoples thoughts and ideas are....cheers guys griffo

I like where Craig has the apex, but I would let the middle section thicken a little before making this cut next winter.
Not sure about the potting angle but the roots may play a part when you make that decision.

Nice taper from the bottome to the next bit, but not much from there up
Serious need of rampant growth to thicken those sections, or get radical and cut back to the top of the second section.
Craigs semi cascade works for me

. Griffo, it's not quite that simple mate.., All i can do is offer you an idea, without having this tree in front of me it's very hard to say which branch i would use to train a new leader. You could use one of those very small new shoots or try to get a shoot at the bottom of the larger shoot/branch.It's not an overnight job but very achievable in the long term..Remember it's only my impression of this tree and only you can turn this virt into reality

,,if thats the way you decide to go ..I'm sure if you think about it ,other options will be available

Have fun

,,Craig
