the foliage looks like peppercorn, but not the trunk, so i'm not to sure sorry

Could be a type of acacia there are more than 1200 different species so not sure which one.
Or it could be Ailanthus altissima or chinese tree of heaven.

Does the foliage smell at all?
It is not a peppercorn, they usually have serrated leaf margins.

Looks like an acacia at first glance. Are you able to give us a photo of more of the tree? Any buds/fruit/flowers or a bigger picture of more leaves on a branch.

I'm guessing it's in the family fabaceae subfamily mimosoideae. Does it have pods?

Its not a Jacaranda, foliage tends to be finer

Nope no thorns that i can find or at least were i can reach its about 10-12 foot tall im only 5'9"

Looks like the large trees that grow in the grounds of the catholic school. Ash should know what it's called. I can't remember.
