I saw this poor old, rootbound juniper in my local Mitre 10 on saturday. Thought about it overnight and rang them on sunday to have it delivered. I received it yesterday (monday) and decided to think about the styling overnight.

Got to work on it this morning

After taking off all the dead needles in the centre and a couple of branches to thin it out.

As it is now. I am going to take off the bottom and right hand side branches but I am leaving them for the moment to give more strength for growth for a few months. I will wire the branches downward. I am going to extend the shari down the trunk more but I still have to think on how much and where. I am still to decide on the finished angle of the trunk. It has too much movement for a formal upright but not enough (I think) for a good informal. I might just lean it a little more.

The back

Any comments or tips. My styling prowess is sadly lacking so I hope I have not ruined this tree, it cost a whole $50, that's including $20 delivery - a bargain I think.

Great find Rowan. I agree with Chris - give it time to rest & recover now, and also treat with plenty of TLC (fertilizer, water and daily care).
