What Happened To My Cotoneaster

Hi All,
Sorry I have been off the grid for a bit, I am now back at work and I don't have much time for jumping on the site. Four months off work was really really good with full pay, but now the dream has been smashed by coming back to this hole in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, you dont want to hear the Wo Me story...lol..
I left beautiful Cairns on the 2 January to drive back to Middlemount (3 hrs west of Mackay) and I decided to bring a couple of stock with me. On the trip I did not use aircon in the car, and the weather was pretty good, however, when I got to Middlemount and placed my little friends on their new bench, the cotoneaster just died. It is now in the same sort of sunlight exposure as it was in Cairns, the only difference is the humidity, even that is fairly similar. All leaves are now gone, and there is no sign of it recovering after 3 weeks. Anyone got any suggestions for me. Please help.
On a lighter note, the JBP and Chinese Elm has rocketed off with growth, might keep them down here, they grow better. Thanks Glenda for your advice on these aswell.

Cheers
Fish

I have also experienced this.

A time ago I bought a cascade Cotoneaster from a guy who had to move. The tree was in a very good condition. I few days later the leaves and twigs turned brown. It did not die in full: a few weeks later some of the thicker branches sprouted again and also a lot of suckers from below soil level.

Maybe these trees are more prone to the effects of changing conditions than we think?

I hope you havent binned it after only three weeks. Did you scratch test down low on the trunk. Sometimes they can take along time to come back. Generally though, C.Ts are fairly tough

Thanks for the heads up, no i haven't binned it, thought that I would see how she goes. Glad I didn't. Hopefully she comes back, really liked that little bugger.
Cheers
