Just a question on fertillisers....Can you use dynamic lifter on natives such as sheoaks and lillypillys bottlebrushes...
Just wondering or is it to stronger concentrate for them...
Only reason im asking is i have three bags of it (20kg) and i dont have enough figs to eat it up I have only just got into the aussie natives and have a little john, river sheoak and a few lillypillys...so if possible thought i would share it with these plants.....

Gday Krittas!
I use Dynamic Lifter™ on all my trees without a drama. Most of my collection is Oz Natives, including all the species/genera you mention. The other two products I use are Charlie Carp™ and Seasol™. (I seem to recall reading a Dorothy Koreshoff article in which she claims that DL™ and CC™ are the only products which are gentle enough for use on Oz Native plants.)
I am unsure of the NPK breakdown of any of these products, but as I said, I have had no issues.
Good luck, and welcome to the wide world of Australian Native Bonsai!
Fly.

That's interesting about DL Fly, is it a specific type you use? As I know they have a few products now.
I've been using Ted Poynton's home brew. I dropped in there a few months back while he was hocking bags of it for 5 bucks each, not bad.

Hi Krittas
I use DL on mine too with no ill effects. I have both Native and Exotics ( only in Nursery Pots ATM), and use a Blend for Roses.
NPK of 10,10,10
Most here will say that Natives require low potassium rather than 10 that i use. I think the Standard Dymanic lifter is lower K than 10

I do not use DL on anything. The one we get in WA must be different from what they get in the east!!.
I will send the soil alkaline, I find most natives I grow like the soil on the acid to neutral side. With re potting it should not be too much of a problem.
I have however encountered a problem inside 6 months on a Melaleuca cuticularis, so I changed the soil and stopped using DL no problems since. None with any of my trees using Phostrogen every 2 weeks. Then once a month Miraclegro for Azaleas.

From the Yates website, the NPK of bulk Dynamic Lifter is about 3.2 : 2.6 : 1.3
Other Dynamic Lifter blends as below:
DL Orchard Lifter 8-3-8
DL Vine Lifter 10-6-3
DL Turf Lifter 10-4-6
DL Long Life Complete 5-3-5
Seasol
NPK = 0.10% : 0.05% : 2%
Charlie Carp
Original: NPK = 9:2:6
NEW Organic = 3:0.7:0.1
Edit Dynasol
Liquid Formulatio NPK =10.47 : 2.5 : 7.56
Miracle-Gro
NPK = 10 : 16 : 10

The NPK for Miracle-Gro for Azalea's
N 28% P 1.8% K 10% + micro elements.
Phostrogen
N 14 % P4.4% K 22.4% + micro elements.
I use both these fertilisers on all my natives including the Proteaceae family, with no ill affects I find them easy to use and economical.

Gday Pup, et al!
I'll add this to the 'Things I've Learned Today' file. I had always assumed that composted/composting matter would make the soil more acidic, but even the Yates website warns about potential alkalinity problems arising from the continued use of Dynamic Lifter. I couldn't find any info about Charlie Carp that mentioned
its effect on pH, but I didn't look too hard. Hector?
Sorry if I have led anybody astray and helped them kill their trees due to excessive alkalinity.
Thanks all.
Fly.

As I have stated in my post here Phostrogen and Miracle Gro for Azalea's.
The main reason for this post is to invite you to the workshops of Lindsay and Glennis as an observer.
This weekend re visiting tutors. You will be most welcome
