hi guys this is a little dwafe boug i picked up about a year ago it actually did die but came back it lost all its leaves and branches and i am very happy with the way it has come back in the year

It's a Smarty pants, or Hawaiian torch is it's other name.
Great species of boug Get it into a bigger pot and cut it back is my advice

thanks for the advice and proper name, when i got it from the nursery it only had dwafe boug written on the tag,
so i will pot it in a bigger pot and also try to put some bending, into it to get more shape to it instead of straight up and down.
i will just wait for it to drop leaves and stop flowering before i do anything, or can i work on it before the flowers drop ,
These are the questions we need answered as a newby
1: can i work on it before flowers drop.
2: will it go ok if repotted now

'Smarty pants' and 'Hawaiian torch' are very much alike, however, 'Smarty pants' has no thorns and 'Hawaiian torch' has short thick thorns.

Hi Dean Bougys are on the go all year - so any time is OK to repot. It would actually be better to pop it in the ground if you could - they get really thick then. My experience with them up here in sunny QLD is sun all day and water lots when they are in a pot. They will survive in the goround with little water but I find they don't like being in dry pots. And feed them heavily with DL to encourage flowering.

Great start to a future tree.
I put these two in the ground for 2 years with the watering system and the results are shown below.
Be very carfull trying to bend it as they are very brittle, best to shorten it and wait for lots of branches that will give you options later. Guy wires work better than wire wrap.
Let it just grow freely to thicken the trunk and you can expect a nice tree, then trim it back to shape after lifting.
These have been in boxes for 1 year and I aim to pot up next spring keeping it cut back to shape and compact growth toward the trunk.
Bracts tend to be at the end of branch, but I'm hopeing to get some nice colour together with shape.

thanks chris now i know it is a smarty pants it has no thorns at all
and @ALAN thanks for your advise i shall find a nice sunny spot in the backyard with full sun
