Hi All,

Here is a little Japanese Style garden. I'm still not 100% happy with it and will fix a few small items still.
Can you guys spot the native? Scleranthus biflorus a great little ground cover.

Hi Ant, just not happy with the bamboo edging next to path, and the bamboo wall needs more black ties I think to look more authentic... I was also debating putting in some small granite boulders but I was worried of overcrowding the space....

Nice job mate! Is this your garden or was it a commissioned job?
I have studied Japanese gardening for a few years and have built one myself therefore can't hold back from providing some constructive criticism based on my experiences and readings...

The largest rock near the water bowl should be sunk into the ground more to give the appearance of stability and solidness. At present it is floating on the white rocks which looks unnatural.
Can you point the spot light up more to reflect the light vertically along the entire bowl rather than just being a single 'spot' of light? At the moment it is reflecting back towards the viewing point rather than illuminating.
Have you considered planting something in front of the power points to hide them? A couple of giant Liriope would do the job nicely I feel.
I agree that the bamboo wall needs some more black twine to look natural. Possibly adding another cross beam (below centre) would also add to the authenticity. If you're interested, here's a link to an easy video tutorial on Japanese knot tying - Japanese Knot video - Oto Komusu

Thanks for the responses and compliments guys.

This job was commisioned, I couldn't afford a 2mil house with a beach view...
The main viewing area for this garden is from inside the house as it has a teppanaki bar area, and the 2 lights aren't visible from there but it would definitely be good placing some Liriope 'Evergreen Giant' there... Weird I initially drawed this concept with a cross beam below centre but never got around to doing it and I did all the knots the Japanese way have been doing these for a few years, as I get many request for Oriental Themed gardens it was worthwhile learning the technique.
Thanks you for your input, always good to get other peoples perspectives, opinions and constructive critisicm.
