I don't post here too often. Most of your species are unknown to me, and I figure keeping my mouth shut is wise :) but flowers I can do :tu:

Ian
love the rhodi :tu: looks like quite an old speciman. How long have you been training it and did you have any trouble with collection?

Thanks Guys,

Its a blue Diamond collected from a garden about 10 years ago. It struggled for a few years and then picked up. I still have trouble with rust on the leaves every year but they seem to be prone to it. Well worth the effort for the flowers alone.

Very nice Ian as you say well worth the effort. Many years ago I imported when we could a grab apple from the Eastern States of Australia. It failed measurably.

So I sold it on but kept some suckers, then passed that on to a young mate he had magnificent success with it. I now have some Shohin growing from that one, and I am waiting for the first flush of flowers hopefully this year. :fc:

Thank you for the post, Pup :)

A lovely Rhody Ian. Did you polish the wood on the trunk for the picture, it looks great or does it do that naturally

Theya re all beautiful, Ian :D
I also love that Rhodi!! What a magnificent specimen!! Any details about the pot at all?
I have a soft spot for Malus as well. And have a couple. Love them!
I envy your Prunus as well, as I would love a cherry, but they don't prefer our climate.
Thanks for sharing mate :D

Thanks Guys,

The bark is naturally like that, It's wet in a few of the photos which tends to make it look oiled. The pot isn't ideal for it but was the only one I had that looked half right. I like the colour as it matches the bark but the shape isn't right. I think it's Korean in origin.

Crab apples can take a while to grow from suckers and cuttings. The one above was a cutting and I nearly sold it as it hadn't flowered in 15 years!! It has now flowered for 3 years in a row so it's a keeper
