Hi all,
I'm considering chopping off some major branches on my mock-orange. I will either make the chop or let the top left hand side of the foliage grow out to the left and then style the whole tree in triangle shape with an apex just to the right of centre. I have attached some very basic images showing the possible results. If you have any comments or advice I'd really appriciate your input.

What about something a little different to what you're thinking?
A virt of what i came up with, any thoughts at all?

Thank you so much for your honesty and for taking the time to produce a virt. Is there a way for me to promote the growth of the branches on the left hand side that would be required? I have attached some photos of what I have to work with.

Hi Matt no worries mate , Murraya , i haven't grown for a number of years but i'm fairly sure they back bud pretty well, if done in early spring, once it warms up a little
would probably be best,cut back really hard at that time and go from there, ,I do love Murraya's ,,, keep us posted Matt

Thanks heaps for your advice Craig it's greatly appreciated. I will keep doing what I've been doing (as far as water and fert. goes) as the tree is really healthy and is growing new shoots every day. I will wait for Spring and reassess the design then. Hopefully after a prune I can ecourage the required back budding. It's great to have other peoples' experience and vision to draw inspiration from.

Like craig i dunno about the Semi cascade either.

They do back bud well from Bare wood as the one I collected a few years ago is testament to. It was cut back to bare stumps when collected. Although it is quite a bit bigger than yours. Here it is at a workshopp with Peter Adams. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1550&p=14925&hilit=murraya#p14918
