Greetings everyone! (long time no see as well)

I was wondering if anyone know of some book or publication that lists a wide range of plants, trees, shrubs etc and their scientific names?
Maybe some sort of compendium, or encyclopedia or reference textbook?
The hard part that I'm looking at something small (not necessarily pocket sized though)

I have not been successful so far (maybe I am searching incorrectly)

But it would be nice to have such a book, my plant name learning quest will benefit!

Cheers :D

I have two old ones I use frequently

One is called "the Trees of Britain and northern Europe" Collins London.

The Other is "World Trees", a Collins Eyewitness handbook. Their are two versions of this one by Allen J Coombes.

All are excellent

Hope this helps.

You are requesting a lot of information in a very small book. The font would have to be size 0.0000001 or something.

I have a book on Australian native plants that only covers from Newcastle down to Wollongong and west to the Blue Mountains (Sydney region). It is 614 pages long and doesn't cover all the natives that exist in this region. If you are keen to learn more plants, start by learning some common families and their features. When you look at, for example, the oil glands in the leaf of something, you can tell its in Myrtaceae. Square new stems are Lamiaceae or Verbenaceae, with Lamiaceae having more of a prominent lobed petal. It will take some time but it is worth learning how to figure out what a plant is rather than trying to remember all of them.

If you are looking for Australian trees i have two books that are really good. A field guide to Australian trees 3rd edition by Ivan Holliday is a pocket size book which covers about 400 species. Forest trees of Australia 5th edition is the best reference book on Australian natives i have come across but quite expensive i got mine on eBay for $110, you really get more bang for your buck with this one thou.
