A story about two trees

Looking at Mario’s shohin in another thread reminded me of a story of 2 of mine.

It is coming up to 14 years since these shohin were started ( not the best looking). I haven’t done many shohin over the years because of the care required, so the ones I do have are a little neglected.

I remember these trees because 1. They are a few that have survived and 2. My 4 year old daughter at the time helped me with the potting of these Mugo. In the process of the initial shaping there were off cuts. My daughter wanted her own Bonsai, so we took a cutting off the ground and put it into a pot. I played along, and treated it the same as the parent tree. I thought it would have died within a month but 14 years down the track it still survives.

It is the first one and the second is the parent.

Hi Peter,

I didn't think you had any shohins based on what I've seen from your collection. But I guess you don't as this is your daughter's tree right :) .
I like this tree as and the sentimental touch.

regards,

Mario
