Very difficult question to answer Siddhar. Art is in the eye of the beholder. You would certainly expect a high quality tree for $2250 and when spending this much money, most people would probably want to see these trees in the flesh to assess the health of the trees, see how advanced the refinement of the foliage and its ramification is, check for any pests/diseases and also find out about the history of the trees.
Really depends on you and how great you believe these trees to be, and how much money you are willing to spend on Bonsai.

Ahh well yes I agree Webos. This is where the art form stems from. I thought this was a good example of where Bonsai and its principles can be taken if the buyer were non the wiser
I would have thought the $4500 asking price would at least include the backyard and some decent Japanese pots

i think they do need to be placed into a bigger pot and thinned out a bit ,
they seem to be over crowded in them pots to me i think a bigger pot and a hell of
alot of refinement needs to be done and maybe a serious bit of wiring and it
looks like defoliation is needed the leaves look a bit to big

To me they look like a couple of old house plants that have been severely rootbound and just dropped into a couple of old bonsai pots which are completely unsuitable. Some people must think bonsai enthusiasts are as rich as we are stupid. Or visa versa.

Hi Dragon,
You're not wrong there. I'm wondering even if the person is a bonsai artist.

It looks more like someone had 2 Ficus growing in black pots, saw some bonsai somewhere and thought he could make a "quick" buck by putting his figs in bonsai pots. Like you said it needs defoliation as the leaves are way to big. Doesn't look like it has been done in the past.Besides all of that I don't think the blue pot is Japanese, they normally don't use bold colours like that often. Could be a very cheap japanese pot. Good luck for him if he can sell the at that price. I hope the buyer have done some research first.
Cheers,
Chris
