Specialised Gravel Newcastle Closing down

I had to go down to Black Hill today for a couple houndred kilos of gravel to touch up around a new fence next to a garden i did a while back for friends.

Specialised Gravel Supplies (SGS) at Black Hill, are closing down as of June 30 '11. The land has been sold & the business owner has decided to take the opportunity to do other things.. Supplies are running low of some stuff and at the moment the long term future of the business is unknown. If anyone is thinking of going out there call first to make sure they will have what you want.

I took the opportunity to have a chat with them about a few nice landscape & sculptural pieces I have spied over time and given the opportunity to scrounge round the heaps for anything that might take my eye (some had already been spoken for). Others eg a large (read 350+kg) piece of sandstone that is no use for a landscape because of the way it is fracturing.. ideal to turn into slabs for paving & possibly some trees... all up to the stone gods when I return with my hammer & chisels... I also have my eye on some nice big river stone that I think will will be just the feature needed to finish my mentors (I mulched yesterday, cypress softfall not gravel thankfully)
