Developing broom style. Question ?

I am going to try and create a few different broom style trees with maple and elm using the v cut trunk chop method . I know to tie raffa around the cut to stop swelling I was thinking large cable ties would do a better job ? Also I was thinking of thread grafting one or 2 branches up through the trunk at an angle so they come out near the centre of the trunk chop to try and create a more natural look but don't think this is possible because there is no cambium there . Will this work ? Has any one tried it ?

i think for maple. the v doesn't work very well. cause they dont back bud on the normal trunk except if it is on the bud area which will have secondary bud, tri bud.
best way i reckon. is choose a maple tat u can c bud on both opposite side and cut your v just ontop.
lets wait for more respond cause there might be a better solution regarding the maple
for elm. u can do vcut anywhere and raffia or tape it. should bud on the cut area
for the grafting method u mention. im not sure what you are proposing.
all u need is flow of sap if you wan to graft a broom out of the stump. best wait till spring time to graft.
try it out anyway. you will never really know till u do it.
