hey guys and gals,

my passion for bonsai is dominated by teh flowering type. especially prunus. i love them and cant get enough of them. thought would be cool to see the flowering bonsai we all have or are working on. share some ideas about them etc. they dont have to be "complete" bonsai by any means cos if yours are like mine they are all in various states of progression.

anyone care to share some pics? i will take some this weekend and post

Heres one from last spring, showing how many flowers it had. It was in the hot house trying to protect them from the wind and rain!

Hi everyone.
One of my best flowering bonsai is a crabapple. pic taken in 2007 cos I don't have a recent one of it in flower.

This crab apple has tiny yellow apples about 6mm diameter.

The chinese quinces have not flowered in bonsai pots yet, probably due to pruning back hard to get ramification.
My wisteria has only flowered once in 25 years so I don't have a photo of that either.
The cotoneasters have tiny flowers but the yellow faced honeyeaters still find them - does that count as a flowering bonsai?

I'll have to try to update the photos as things flower this spring.

Hey shibui

With the quince I find ramifications easy. Mine shoot out branches from every node on every branch each spring. I have mine in a grow box tho. Maybe take ur quince out of the bonsai pot and put it in a grow box the spread it's feet. It should then put out lots of growth. Once u have ur tertiary branches then put it back in a bonsai pot.

As for the wisteria. Prune it twice a year and keep it potbound :)
