Hi there, My name is Sven. "Hello""
Ive been thinking about trying bonsai for a while now I have read up a bit on some basics and have decided to make a composition with English box, and some moss. This is my first bonsai attempt. Let me now what you think. Ive just finished arranging the trees and the moss.
I haven't wired or pruned the tree yet obviously, mostly because I don't know how..
Let me know what you think, any tips or advise for pruning and wiring this composition would be much appreciated.
I have edited out the back ground stuff (poorly) as its in my room under a light.
Just did some pruning....
Sven.

Hi Sven, good start in the art of Penjing (Bonsai in a landscape setting/scene), just follow your passion for now and learn, bonsai nurseries are a great place to get inspiration and advise, we've got a few around Melbourne - check 'em out ... hopefully you've got somewhere outdoors to keep your new composition? Virtually all bonsai need outdoor sunlight and air (to varying degrees). Good luck.

Great work, your landscaping is superb.
Do you like how it looks? If so well done, the image is pleasing to view. With time the trees will fall into place, great to learn on also. Keep us updated.

hi sven
welcome to the site to start with, you have come to the right place to start your journey!
mate the best advice I can offer is get yourself some books, read as much as you can, if possible join a club, you should be able ot find some around the joint, these are a great place to start as you will have people new to bonsai and experienced alike! ask as many questions as you can, we have a new wiki feature here which is a great resource.
your setting is a great little start, I think there are some things that can be improved on but that will happen in good time. I am a little concerned about one or two of the trees you have there, I hope they are yellow due to shock or cold but this can happen. aesthetically I think the image is a little 2d if that makes sense, to create depth you need to place the trees not in a line but forward and back of the centre of the pot line.
otherwise you have a great start. buxus can be a little brittle but wiring is possible, between that and some selective pruning you should get some nice little trees. also if possible try and find some that are different in height and trunk thickness this will help with the flow of the setting
good luck and keep us posted

Hi there thank you everyone for commenting, I ahve got some books and reading. I think the landscape style is my favorite and i have almost finished another.
Thanks Ryan ive since put that one out side its doing much better now.
The new one. had more depth, I think or Jamie suggested this.
I made one since this which needs to grown in with the moss.
But im very happy with the next landscape Ive made I might put some photos up a little later.
Thanks again guys.
