Hi,
I am looking for a nursery in melbourne that sells native plants. The 2 that I am looking at are the banksia and Protea species. Does anyone know of any or even online nurseries that you have used.
Many thanks

Hi Makro,
I know people who travel a long way to visit Kuranga, it is close to Chris at The Imagination Tree. I always visit both when I am out that way.

Makro you will not get proteas at Kuranga nursery. Proteas are not Australian native plants. You will, however, see the best range of real Aussies there.
Proteas are related to banksias but are all from South Africa - descendants of the flora of Gondwana when Aust, Africa, South America and Antarctica were joined in one huge continent.

Hi Makro , visited the big smoke over the weekend and managed to get to "Treeplanters Nursery" .Darrens knowledge was something to experience in natives . I managed to get a nice selection of 50mm tubes , 150mm potted plants and tree's , was so happy with them i went back for a second load , The big old freebie was worth the trip

.
Just for the record its up for "SALE" so all stock must go .Grab yourself a bargain , even better if you mention Ausbonsai

and the "Native bonsai comp", Darren will certainly look after you . Now all i have to do is find a spot in the garden to plant them .Cheers Alpineart
