Hey everyone,
I have found a pest, or pest eggs or 'something' on my urban yamadori peach I dug up last year. I first noticed these little white patches, some looking like white scale near buds and shoot bases, and some white almost ant-like eggs in cracks in the bark.

I have checked through all my bonsai books pests sections and even online, and can't seem to find what the pest might be? Or possibly it's a reaction the peach is having itself? I brushed it all away 3 months ago and gave the tree a good spray to ward it off, but it's returned.

thanks so much for any input!

for scale, the little white 'eggs' are around 2.5mm long.

yeah looks liek mealy bugs to me too. Spray them off with a strong jet of water or gentle scrub them off with a plastic bristled brush then spray with white oil or confidor as was previously advised

and if that doesnt work or they keep coming back try and catch some ladybugs. i did this last year when i had recurring aphids on one of my crabs. searched the gardens daily for ladybugs and let them have a meal and a half hehe

Ah thanks heaps for the identification help you two! I guess i never looked closely enough to see if they were actually living bugs, i just assumed they were eggs of some sort, nope! And that ladybug idea is so cool! if i find one, i'll let her have a sizzler buffet on my peach.

I'll do what i did last time and hose/scub them all off and confidor the little blighters.

Or maybe find some mealy bug bear grylls recipes.

Jozaeh, just be careful which Lady bug you get, make certain it has 6 spots on it's back, these eat bugs while the 28 spot lady bug will chew the green growth on your plants.
