New to Macro as well, or just a new lens?

Looks like you are having fun mate. The file name suggests that you are using a Canon dSLR. Is the macro lens a Canon 100mm EF f2.8? I love that lens but my budget was low so I bought a Sigma 150mm f2.8 instead.
Tips? I would experiment with deeper DOF (like f22) and slower shutter speed and sit the camera on the tripod to avoid blurness. I know someone may say what the point of buying f2.8 then. I just found that unless you want a dreamy look and make the diamond stand out for your wedding ring, the larger f number makes macro shots of plants and flowers look way better. Of course you can only do this if there is not a lot of wind.

We want to be up around f22 like KVAN stated, unfortunately unless you are in direct sunlight, it gets dark obviously. You then need to think how your going to light the subject as you pop-top flash maybe shadowed by your lens. A tripod it good for long exposures here, but useless on moving targets, I shoot all my macro freehand.
Droplets are great light refractors, create several then hold a flower behind them, aligning it so the droplets magnify the flower.
Great shots from doing that.
Find a little jumping spider in your yard, put it on a leaf then in a dish, great fun to photo and they'll pose still and look at your shiny lens. In the right light conditions they will actually see themselves in the lens and think it is another jumper.
