Something different

Hi all, I have used a section of Olive stump that would normally be discarded to start a whole new tree, I have cut a section of the root turned it upside down and started a whole new tree, the first pic shows the piece in question and the second shows a rough sketch of its location, so I ended up getting two trees from one. :tu:

Hi Ozzy,

Aren't those olives just the best sports? I've heard you can do this, and have thought about it with my offcuts. Only i haven't had a bit with as much interest as that one.

Keep us posted. :tu:

Yeah I tried it once before without success, then when I saw this really interesting bit off root I decided to give it another go, for a long time it would only throw shoots out from the base as illustrated below, most of the stump actually died off, I was going to do a graft with one of the base shoots onto the stump but then finally it threw out a couple of leaders higher up to work with so I got rid off all the other shoots and just kept the one.
