Nice flowers

If mine I would shorten top down. there is no taper in that section and looks too spindly. Shorten to the second branch above the "trunk section" maybe

this ome reminds me of the wood prints that we see in books of chrisanthemum. I dont mind how this one hasnt got great taper as it reminds me of the wood block prints.

Thanks Fiona, thanks Ken
It is a bit tall I know. Once it has flowered I will give it a good trim back and put it into a bonsai pot. I might shorten it then but then I may not. We seem to always be shortening everything and a bigger tree means more flowers and more impact, at that time atleast. There is a bit of strength and character in the lower trunk (hidden in shadow in these pics)so once it fills in and thickens up a bit it may be alright.
Cheers!
neal.
edit - thanks jamie, nice thought, those chrysanth pictures are very cool

There is a Bonsai masters Daughter that creates amazing settings with trees just like this. Have a search through WOB series 1. It shows amazing skills it's kinda like combining bonsai with Ikebana

nice----with those size flowers I would keep the overall size of the tree pretty much as is--just let it grow out for the next couple of seasons and trim to same size throughout -
