Was at a nursery today and found an attractive shrub. I know of the plant through my work as a florist as andromeda .
Has anyone tried to bonsai one before and if so do you have any pics , ideas or hints on what I should do with it

I collected a couple of monsters recently. The one below is a pot that is about a metre wide, after three weeks all the trunks are covered in buds, so signs are good. Treat them a lot like azaleas and you should be right. I haven't seen many examples of these so I think working the foliage might be a bit hard but willing to try.
This is the base of another one I got which has a nice twist.
I would think they would need to be big for the foliage to work convincingly.

I have a small one ( only about 10mm Trunk) about 6 inches tall, and it is in flower now
The copmpound leaves are quite small so should make a nice small tree
Wood it brittle as, so apply wire to new branches before they lignify.
Will back bud readily.

Hi Ken,
This variety has beautiful delicate flower arrangements. Is it hard to care for? as it would make a fabulous gift as a pot plant as well as a Bonsai

I Have it on my bench and gets treated like All the others so nothing special
Water when needed ( daily for me), Liquid fert weekly or so, Prune after flowering, Wiring befer the branches harden off as they are very brittle

Thanks Ken.
The trunk is approx 2 inches and about 350mm high.
I havent bothered to much with structure as its grown for its display of flowers.
Maybe after the flowers die off I might look at refining it so it looks good out of flower.

That's a very nice tree crowie, how long have you had it ? Do you wire it or just trim to shape it?
I was thinking of planting it in the ground for 12 month the shaping it in a pot. What are you thourghts on this
