Ficus Macrophylla

A friend gave me this tree about 5 years ago who twisted 3 not very interesting cuttings together to fuse the trunks. I repotted this Moreton bay fig yesterday and thought I would post the progression over the past 2 1/2 years.

Once the tree has settled from the root prune I will defoliate and wire. Still a long way to go with this one.
All comments welcome.

Hi Andrew,
Thats coming along very nicely, could possibly need a branch on the left side to fill it out a bit. IMO

I do agree that the space needs to be filled over the next couple of years I will work on a graft to fill it in.
Craig
Still not shore on the front

it will come as the tree grows.
Thanks for the comments

gday mate
I like where this is heading! do you plan on getting the airials to thicken and fuse to the trunk to increase the taper? I like them anyways
has this been growing on the rock the whole time or has this been added in later?
hows the clero?

Gday Jamie
The tree has been on the rock since I got it. I just turned it around to get a different prospective and yes once the roots have thickened up the trunk will have more appeal.
Thanks for the comments Jerry and Steven

Hi Andrew
I appreciate seeing how 3 ordinary trees can be fused into a tree and developing earlier potential. Thanks
Would you consider placing the tree on a more substancial rock down the track?

IMHO it's already a little overpowered by the tree. If this is too bothersome though, i'd be happy to take it off your hands to stop you being overly frustrated..

It has been along time since I have posted an update of this tree
For the last 12 months I really have not done much to this tree except water and sun. Over the next week I will defoliate and wire for the next stage.
For some reason I don't think I am getting the rock out
Thanks for looking

Great tree! Gives me inspiration for my three little figs. I work near Hyde Park in Sydney and the Moreton Bay Figs there are amazing.
