Should i cut the trunk lower on this freshly collected olive?

The problem with these crazy old olives you don't get new growth where the barks all rugged. I have few in my collection that are much the same as this one after a year they still havn't show any signs of life i think i cut the trunks too low. I would love to hear what other people think maybe some olive collecting specialists.

I would Wait until you get some new growth happening first

Than I woudl cut back to just above bottom part of the trunk.
Somewhere along the first straight section

Nice find though

This is a great start ,dont be to hasty to cut it off to short.I have attached a pic of an olive stump that was dug years ago, feed it and let it go good luck .
