Thanks Mack, Not that I saw, but a lot of junk in some of the neglected nature strips around Lara. This was a site soon to be developed. Met some of the Geelong lads recently who seemed to have a good eye, so this had to come out ASAP!

Hey Soda, lovely bit of Ash you have there! Can't help with the ID mate, sorry. However I was hoping that perhaps you might be able to help me?
I have had my eye on a mature Fraxinus stump (not sure of species) for a while now and I was hoping to collect it at the start of this month but time got away from me.
I figured that it would have to wait till next winter as I went to look at it 2 weeks ago and it had already started to leaf out...it currently looks like yours in regards to leaves.
Since I have seen your ash that you just collected it has made me re-evalute me collecting mine. If it is given the correct after care and is collected properly are there any down sides to collecting ash once it has leafed out like yours? Obviously you have experience etc, and ash are a hardy species...what do you think and why did you get this one now and not while it was still dorment?
I would really appreciate your advice. Good luck with yours it looks great!...nice mature bark and good lower branches as well as some taper. I like the shari on the lower trunk too!

Desert Ash ..Fraxinus Angustifolia.

Thanks bodhi amd dario. Not really sure about the rights and wrongs of timing collecting let alone this particular species. I had success with a native (that logic said should have died) thanks to all the aftercare tips given to me on here. Shade seasol and rest worked ok last time, so I'm hoping it will be fine. It does have some nice attribites, so hopefully in time it can be a great tree. I did head dpwn to collect it with the comp in mind but underestimated the size it had got to.

I have been thinking about it, and I have decided to wait till next winter as I have plenty to play with and there is no rush for me to collect this tree unlike your circumstances. This will also give me a chance to prune it a little, might even spade around it to induce some more feeders in close to the trunk etc...not that ash seem to have much trouble in this department, at least not in my experience.

Hi Soda, how is this ash coming along after collecting just after it had already leafed out?
I presume it is ok...fraxinus are tough as nails!
