About 4 or 5 years ago I had the opportunity to dig a number of Zelcova Serrata seedlings from a garden. The garden owner had given all of them a good cut (or two) over the years and so these were not your usual candidates for the traditional broom style.
This particular tree probably, or maybe (that's hopefully) has some potential but I am struggleing to find the perfect tree within what I have been given.
If anyone has any ideas or maybe a vert, I would be most appreciative.

G'day Watto, it is great the way it is. Just start wiring down the branches and keep developing it with this style in mind.

I was a bit nervious about the big S shape?

Just imagine it in about twenty years time with a big Gnarly trunk. Not the way it is now. It will grow closer together trunk wise.

I like the "other side" best
tilt to the right a little and the abes gets built with the uppermost Shoot going to the left, Cut everything back and start building the branching.

You will need to probably root graft to fix the nebari tho and the big "knee" on the left will need fixing

I alsso thought at first that the tree could be developed further in the style that it's in, but if it were mine I'd first have a darn good look to see if it could be made into a windswept or wind blown, with the branch next to the cut bent over it to cover it. Slight tilting might help.

Thanks for the input and ideas folks. I did re-pot it and gave it a trim. As I am still a bit undecided no drastic action was taken. When it springs into leaf I will have another good look at it and make some decisions.
