Collecting my favorite species which is Melaleuca rhaphiophylla. This species was the first native other than bracteata and Golden gem. What made it special I collected it. The first time was two from our young sons farm in Denmark WA in 1995 February the 20th the reason I know so well it was my late fathers birthday. From a peat swamp.
These pictures are of the same variety growing in a clay swamp. This area is now a four lane highway we saved as many as we could. Here are pics of the site tomorrow I will take some of the survivors.

What a find! Haven't seen anything like that here in New South. What has kept them trimmed back Pup?

If you look at picture 28 you will see what is left of the pruners.
Also the local Hoods would get there jollys by setting fire to it to cook the pruners.

Man, if I found that place and knew it was being bulldozed then I think I'd hire a small backhoe and pick up the lot, if I had the time.
There were some seriously good starter trees there in your "growing field", pup.
