Hello all,

I quick question......Has anyone tried to bonsai the true asiatic rhododendrons? Not talking about azaleas but the true to type rhododendrons....
If so, which ones? I live in Sydney & I know that Rhododendrons are cooler climate tree/shrubs, but I have noticed that there are heat tolerant plants avaliable.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed....

Cheers

We have plenty down here, but I would imagine the leaves and flowers are to big, unless of course you intended on a very large bonsai.

I have seen a couple of convincing rhodo bonsai from europe. They use the small leaved species such as Litangense or blue diamond, just to name a couple. These plants are very much cool climate growers.
