Dwarf wisteria is Milletia japonica 'Hime fuji', it is not a true wisteria but related to them & has the same growing requirements. Another common name is blind wisteria as it does not flower.
There are no true dwarf Wisteria, the hybrid "Amethyst Falls" would be the closest to it but still makes a considerable sized plant if given the room to grow.

thanks for the specification matt, i've got one of those then
it has grown alot of leaves since that 21st of last month(the day the buds started opening)
it still only has around 40% of its buds open(which has led to around 60 leaves)
the tree has alot of growth for its size(its around 160mm's tall)

Hey John, would love of see some pics of your tree. I love Wisteria & a new dwarf would be awesome..... floribunda perform best in full sun.

you are right matt. dwarf wisterai do nto flower. although they have the ability to, they do so very rarely. Even Leong from Bonsai South has not been able to get his to flower. searching pics on the net can not always be relied upon either. by all means, try them and fingers crossed theyf lower, but if you are after a wisteria that will flower each year i would pick a more standard variety
