Hello everyone

I recently received this plant from a friend. It has been neglected for a long time and I intend to rectify this but I was hoping someone could tell me what it is so I can look up some specific care instructions?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can't see properly but it looks like one of the purple leaved coprosmas to me. Not bad as bonsai if it is. Very tough.

Cheers,
Rowan

Thanks Rowan

I did a bit of googling and came up with:

Coprosma ‘Karo Red’

That photo does seem pretty close but I will take a closer look when I get home.

Thanks again

If it is a coprosma (there are some similar purple leaved plants around) it will have shiny, sort-of fleshy leaves. They are pretty distinctive when you get to know them.

From memory they are extremely shinny and I suppose I would call them fleshy, but I will check properly tonight.

I had a close look at it last night and I think you are definitely right, its a Coprosma.

Looking around on the internet didn't turn up a whole lot of info other than keep them slightly on the dry side. If you have grown some do you have any other advice?

Thanks

Does anyone know how well these Coprosmas back bud? or have any tips for getting helping them along.

There is a place on the trunk that I would really like to get a branch

Treat them bad, cut them hard - makes no difference to them :tu: They backbud easily.
