I have seen big w selling fortune figs, big thick chunky roots with another fig grafted onto them, the scion looks like some sort of mutant fig, the leaves are a little twisted. Not the nicest looking tree's but i do like the scion, any idea what species?

I grabbed one of these fortune figs two years ago and its what started me in bonsai.
I beleave mine is a banyan fig, though i am not 100% sure of it.
I was looking in big W on the weekend and i seen a bunch of fortune figs, and while they had the same big narly roots, it definatly is not the same species on top.
It made me think that these are just root cuttings with bits grafted onto on, from what ever is handy.
Thats just guessing, and I love my little fortune fig.
We always remember our first
