I did not know where to post this but i wanted to share it.I wanted to see what this tree looked like in a pot that i absolutely loved. The first idea was to put in my Mela but they are too water hungry so i thought i would try my Coprosma in it.I am preparing this tree for a show and i wanted to see. Sanity prevailed and the tree is in a larger pot.but i took this picture first. My wife said it looked like a very large lady shoe horned into stilleto's.

True, i have, but watering it 3-4 times a day in Summer not for this black duck.

The pot looks great and the pot looks insignificant and this is a great complement.

I went for a deeper oval. The shallow pot is way over the top and maintenance of the tree would be ridiculous.

Since I have recently come into possession of one of these trees, do you have any advice towards caring for and developing the tree? The internet is very sparse with this species.

G'day Mckaus,
Is your tree an old tree (collected) or a young tree. They are water and food lovers once in a pot. You need to wire branches early and carefully as they will snap once past a certain point. Cut of the larger leaves constantly unless you want them to grow on. Like all weeds they become a little sooky once in a pot and contained.

It is already in a pot and I believe it has been for some time. It was grown by someone else as a pot plant and not a bonsai so it will need some fairly major re-work. The trunk has about a 1.5 inch diameter.

As far as pruning and repotting should I treat it vaguely like a Buxus?

Buxus are slow, Coprosmas are fast growers so they will need more attention. you can also root prune Coprosmas harder. Wiring is the same.
